Father Horacio Medina - Community-Focused Archdiocese of Newark Priest
A longtime leader in the Archdiocese of Newark in New Jersey, Father Horacio Medina ministers to parishioners as a Roman Catholic priest. His experience in the clergy extends back to San Jose, Costa Rica, where he studied philosophy and humanities at the Seminario San Clemente. Father Horacio Medina completed graduate studies in El Salvador in theology and sacred Bible and holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and journalism acquired in Honduras.
Committed to community wellbeing, Father Medina regularly visits area hospitals and prisons, bringing the Word of God to patients and inmates and instilling hope, purpose, and motivation to get better. He teaches at Jersey City’s Saint Peter’s University in subjects such as human morality and ethics, ancient Greek philosophy, and Spanish-as-a-second-language.
Father Medina’s academic background includes moral theology studies completed in Rome at the Scuola Alfonsiana. There, he focused on issues such as virtue and building moral character as well as the application of spirituality in medical ethics and social justice. He has also held management roles with Maverick Building Services, guiding the efforts of teams across various Essex County work sites.
